biography
Linda McGurk is a
Swedish-American writer, editor and communications specialist who feels
just as at home on a desolate island in Southern Thailand as she does in
her rural hometown in the American Midwest.
Her journalism career started while still in college, when she landed a
job as a news reporter and photographer at a local daily in Sweden.
Quickly moving on to more responsibilities, McGurk was trusted to manage
a local branch of the paper and learned how to deal with all aspects of
the editorial process.

After moving to the
U.S.
in 2003, McGurk worked as a business researcher and editor for a
recently started Internet company. At the same time, she was a featured
columnist in a Swedish newspaper, writing semi-weekly columns about life
in America.
From 2004 to 2006, McGurk worked as a communications coordinator at
Montana State University, where she provided web content, ghosted
documents for top administrators, and initiated and designed a
newsletter about biomedical research. After traveling around the world
in 2006, she started freelancing full-time from her home office in
Indiana.
Since she first started her writing career, McGurk has published
hundreds of columns, articles and photographs in a number of newspapers,
magazines, newsletters and websites in North America as well as in
Sweden.
McGurk holds a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Journalism from
Gothenburg University in Gothenburg, Sweden. |
